Hi I'm Crystal the designer and blogger at ChristaCoDesign.com love sharing fun and easy crochet designs for the whole family. I've been finding my groove in the garment design area of the crochet world. I have four children ages 8 and under that love their mommy makes and inspire me with their spunk for life. The best part of designing is not only creating, but watching a vision come to life in my hands and then in yours!

You can find me on Pinterest, Instagram, Facebook and on Etsy .

This crochet stitch will be all about the Double Crochet Stitch, also known as the DC in patterns.

Step 1:

Start with a slip knot on your hook (if you want a refresher, see the ones in the Single Crochet Tutorial)

Step 2:

Yarn over (yo).

Step 3:

Pull through the chain.

Step 4:

Continue to yo and pull through to create a chain of the desired length.

I have chained 13 here.

Step 5:

Skip the first 3 chains.

You will work into the 4th chain marked here with the blue needle.

I prefer to work into the back loop of the chain. To do so, turn the chain over.

Step 6:

Yarn over.

Step 7:

Insert your hook into the 4th chain from your hook.

Step 8:

Yarn over again.

Step 9:

Pull through the stitch, pulling up a loop. Now you will have 3 loops on your hook.

Step 10:

Yarn over and pull through the first 2 loops on your hook.

Halfway there! 2 loops on your hook.

Step 11:

Yarn over again.

Step 12:

Pull through both loops on your hook. One double crochet complete.

The skipped chains usually count as a double crochet as well. So our count here is 2 dc.*

Step 13:

Yarn over and insert your hook into the next chain, yarn over and pull up a loop, yarn over and pull through 2 loops, yarn over and pull through the last 2 loops on your hook.*

Step 14:

Continue to repeat the instructions between ** in each chain across the row.

Step 15:

Turn your work.

Step 16:

Ch 3, this will count as the first dc of the second row.*

Step 17:

Yarn over and insert your hook into the next stitch.

Step 18:

Yarn over and pull up a loop, yo and pull through 2 loops, yo and pull through the last 2 loops.*

Step 19:

Continue to repeat the steps between ** across the row.
