Welcome my friend to the start of the Tunisian Crochet Stitch Tutorial Series!!! We will be starting the series with the Simple Stitch and at the end of each tutorial post will be a list of Tunisian Crochet Patterns. Most if not all of these will be featuring the wonderful Toni of TLYarn Crafts as she has inspired me to learn Tunisian Crochet through her stunning and beautiful Tunisian Crochet Holiday Sampler Blanket CAL last year and I love her tutorials. :). I can’t wait to see what you create with your new skills and without further ado, lets get started with the Tunisian Crochet Simple Stitch. :)
This is such an awesome and fun stitch to do and great to start with :). And learning from Toni is one of the best ways to learn :)
For all those who are left handed, here is the left handed tutorial version for the Tunisian Crochet Simple Stitch from BHooked.
Tunisian Crochet is slowly growing in the amount of patterns and designers with some of the most amazing designers often those that also design crochet (like Toni and BHooked) and even knitting pieces as well. Several of these designers below may be very familiar and others you may not know actually create Tunisian crochet as well as crochet patterns!! Awesome news! Toni of TLYarnCrafts (she created the tutorial for the honeycomb stitch above) has a new book out now all about Tunisian Crochet!!! You can find more information about it on her website and you’ll find 20+ patterns in it as well :). I recently received a copy of it for Christmas and can’t wait to get started with some of the many projects in it! You can also find it on Amazon (Kindle for now until the paperback book orders are back) if you click on the picture of the book to the left. :).
You can continue to learn with Toni for the square on her recent Holiday Blanket CAL for the Tunisian Two Tone Simple Stitch and even continue for an entire blanket!!! I’m working on mine and LOVE learning with her all about this fun, beautiful new skill!

SmileyGoose has an awesome Scarlett Triangle Scarf using only the Tunisian Simple Stitch or if you want to go for a challenge she also has the Juliette Triangle Scarf using the Tunisian Simple Stitch and the Tunisian Purl Stitch. Another fun pattern is her Baby Blanket using the Tunisian Simple Stitch which is a patchwork blanket so you can use as many colors or color combinations as you want.
JustBeCraftyShop has created an awesome Dishcloth Pattern that uses the Tunisian Simple Stitch.
byGillBux has created a wonderful Tunisian Diamond Baby Blanket that uses the Tunisian Simple Stitch and cna be done in any number of colors or color combinations.
Hookloopsarah has an awesome Spiral Rug that uses the simlple stitch as well as the crab stitch from crochet. The how to crochet the crab stitch can be found here.
Made With A Twist has created a Baby Blanket using both the Tunisian Crochet Simple Stitch and several crochet stitches (tutorials for the crochet stitches used in this pattern can be found in the Crochet Stitch Tutorial Series).

Knitter Knotter Design has created a Tunisian Sampler Blanket with a square using the Tunisian Simple Stitch. You can do either the full 25 squares or the 16 squares with Tunisian Crochet Stitches being taught from beginner to advanced allowing you to grow in your skill.
AoibheNi creates stunning and simply beautiful patterns that allow you to create a wonderful work of art using the simplest stitches and techniques such as the Nuada shawl which uses the Tunisian Crochet simple stitch as well as some eyelet techniques that are explained to you in this how to tunisian crochet pattern.
Another AoibheNi pattern is Macha, which uses Tunisian Crochet simple stitch as well as eyelets and a braided edge all detailed for you to create yourself a warrior queen of Ireland shawl.

ICanCrochetThatShop has a marvelous Scarf with Tassels that uses not only the simple stitch but color changes creating a gorgeous scarf perfect for autumn weather (and for those looking for a reminder that cool weather is coming :).
CrochetHello has a Tunisian Scrapghan using the Tunisian Crochet simple stitch as well as color change (great project for left over yarn from your stash!) to create a fun blanket!
Poppytoft has created a Tunisian Crochet Cowl using the Simple Stitch and additonal texture to create an awesome cowl.

Daydream by 1 Dog Woof is another fun project where you can practice your new Tunisian Simple Stitch skill and it is also perfect for the cold winter months or to give as a present. It uses a thicker yarn and allows you to keep yourself warm as well as enjoy creating a beautiful blanket.
Tunisian Crochet Scarf by Easy Crochet is a great, short project where you can create a warm cowl (if you join the two ends) or scarf (if you keep it free) of any color or colors of your choice.
Timeless Tunisian Tunic is a great work that is done with the Tunisian Crochet Simple Stitch with DK-weight yarn. You can also create in in any number of sizes and colors.
If you have arthritis or issues with your hands here are some extra tutorials and tips specifically designed with you in mind. :)
The Arthritis Foundation has an article with specific tips for knitting, crocheting, and cross stitching with arthritic hands. They have specific tips for each craft on things you can do to help make manage your arthritis while still allowing you to enjoy the craft you love.
Every Day Health has an article all about how to knit/crochet with Arthritis with 10 tips for how to keep crocheting/knitting. They even encourage you to crochet and craft with Arthritis because it can actually help you with managing it.
All Free Crochet has a full Crochet and Arthritis Tip Guide for those that have arthritis or issues with their hands complete with information about how to help your hands each time you crochet or craft and tips on how to adjust for your craft based on whether you have a good day or a bad day.
YouTube has several videos where people have discussed tips that have helped them with crocheting or knitting with Arthritis or other health issues that cause your hands and body to be stiff.
Jen B discusses how she crochets in this 3 minute video and shows you how to best hold the yarn and more.
Vera of It’s Vera has over 30 knitting and crochet rings in her Etsy Shop that help with pain and relief for crocheting/knitting/Tunisian crocheting with Arthritis.
LullasJewelry also has awesome crochet rings in her Etsy Shop that are adjustable and help hold the yarn for pain and relief while crocheting/knitting/Tunisian crocheting with Arthritis.

Motion Works Blog has an article on tips for crocheting and using your hands despite having arthritis and also gives several stretches that you can do to help your hands while crocheting or crafting.
Laughing Hens has an article specifically about stretches (complete with pictures!) that are great for both crocheters and knitters. I think I’ll start doing these too to help my hands when I’m working on a variety of projects!
